haunted by the fox

If you already read the text about Animateka then you probably remember I promised little something about Petra Zlonoga; young animator and a doodler, and a graphic designer...

I was wondering how to describe someone like Petra, and it's not an easy task; so in the end I just decided to focus on one special creature residing in her world a fox. Foxes are known to be cunning; they symbolize victory of intelligence over strength and have been used as an important mythological element in many cultures. Some say that red foxes embody passion, desire, intensity and expression; while the fox has the power of making one think outside the box, using ones intelligence in it's creative form.

Although she says she's still searching for that right, personal expression; I'd say Petra has developed an interesting skill for narrative description in her work. While some drawings tend to remind me of The Giving Tree story, and it's simple form with fuzzy and beautiful plot, I would love to see where the everlasting story of a fox might lead her. Most of all I would love to see her make a book. 'Till that time, and hopefully she'll find some time this year, there are always sketches and drawings, and short animated films.

Her 5 things daily blog keeps telling the stories she develops every day. They are short; 5 things only as the title says, but vibrant and unique. You might find just a little bit of yourself in each and every one.

Since she's still discovering animation, I am curious to see where it might take her.... With a fox at her side, it will be an interesting and creative trip; no doubt.
